background and objectives

Energy transition can be defined as the tipping over of massive fossil fuel consumption sequences without taking into account the risks incurred by the planet in a sequence of energy service centered on the restraint and clean energy efficiency of alternative energies.
Since the end of the 1980s cooperation between the countries of the Mediterranean rim is a work between energy producers and energy control agencies. It promotes the emergence of large regional projects resting on development strengthened by sustainable energies, adding value to the potential of the southern coast.
In this context the preparation and the production of science, technical, economic, academic and management competence (capacity-building) appears as a need and an opportunity for cooperation in the Mediterranean, succeeding through energy transition. It is important that employees of the future (project teams), planners, engineers, researchers and managers of these projects arrange targeted and appropriate teaching programmes allowing the mobilising of reliable methodological tools and elements of specific choice.

Within this setting and through the continuity of recent collaborations, the CEA/INSTN in partnership with the National School of Engineers in Tunis (ENIT), The National Agency for Energy Control (ANME), The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Society (STEG), The national Institute for Solar Energy (INES), the French Institute of Tunisia (Embassy of France and Tunisia) and the University of Versailles Technical Institute (IUT), are organising the first Mediterranean School of Energy on energy transition and sustainable development in the Mediterranean.
This school’s objective is to build a kernel of local and regional competencies; a think tank for ideas teaching programmes debates and exchanges around different questions linked to energy transition. It will allow contributions, at the Euro-Mediterranean scale, high level teaching programmes for professional competence, putting in place specific actions such as the creation of a network of educational excellence in the areas of alternative energies and energy control.
