descrption

The first copies of a new book on sustainability were distributed this month during the Eco-cities of the Future international workshop 17-19 October 2012. Sustainability Demystified  by Norman Christopher is a new, practical guidebook for business leaders and managers.

It gives business owners and managers a different strategic view of their own business with relevant examples, lessons learned and guidance. This book is a toolbox for the new business imperative of sustainability to be used to develop the triple bottom line and improve business performance.

Businesses need to stay one step ahead of the competition in the growing green economy and this guidebook provides them with 24 applied sustainable best practices. Each chapter is a call to action. The book is also likely to become a staple reference in university management programmes as an essential guide to sustainability best practices.

Contents include areas such as administration management (looking at leadership, social responsibility and assessment), design and engineering (including green technology accreditation), marketing and sales, operations and manufacturing, information technology, supply chain management, finance and accounting for sustainability. In short, something for every business.

The author, Norman Christopher is currently Executive Director of Sustainability at Grand Valley State University, Michigan, USA. He is actively developing and applying the growth of sustainability in his own and the university’s programmes and networks.
